You could rename the DirectX Sound forum to "Sound and music" or something to make it a more general sound-related forum. It seems that a few people use Bass and FMod (or possibly other sound stuff too that I've not heard about). Making it DirectX Sound only seems a little... exclusive.

Just a thought.

It's about time we changed a few things around here: :)

I'm thinking of setting up some new categories instead of just programming. Something like:

Programming - General, Delphi Specific, Game Coding
Graphics - DirectX, OpenGL
Sound - DirectX, FMod, Bass
Network - DirectX, Multiplayer
Game Libraries - GLScene, PowerDraw, Omega, DelphiX, GLX, etc

And ummm..... 'Special Interest' category  :
AI
Kylix
Cheese making
Basket Weaving
Whatever

And also combining Chat with General in the Community category, maybe 'General Chat' or 'Eriken's Lounge'...

Please feel free to criticise, slap me with trouts, or even be constructive if you're able

Should that be trout or trouts? :P

OpenAL is for 3d sound what OpenGL is for 3d graphics. It provides an easy way for playing wave files in 3d space. To learn more on openal take a look at http://www.openal.org and there are delphi units for it. I use it for the sound effects in my game.

You're right, it would make sense to have an OpenAL forum. We have an FMOD and a BASS forum that as yet haven't been used but that doesn't mean they shouldn't be there. What the hell, I'm feeling helpful, let's have an OpenAL forum! Please post any objections in the new OpenAL forum
