New Castle Game Engine 5.2.0 release is available to download from http://castle-engine.sourceforge.net/engine.php ! Castle Game Engine is a modern cross-platform open-source 3D/2D engine for FPC/Lazarus.

Be sure to also check out the slides (http://castle-engine.sourceforge.net/miscella/cge_tutorial_slides.pdf) and examples (data and code) (https://github.com/michaliskambi/cge-tutorial) from a tutorial about our engine given during the recent Web3d 2015 conference. They show (from the ground up) the creation of a simple 3D FPS game and 2D game.

Highlights from this release are:

GPU texture memory profiler, improvements around texture GPU compression.
New font rendering features: scale, outline, print in rectangle.
TUIState to implement simple UI mode switching (with possible stack) in your games.
New option android_project added in our build tool (http://https://sourceforge.net/p/castle-engine/wiki/Build%20tool/) to support custom Java and manifest code in your Android project. This allows to integrate your Android game with Google Games (leaderboards, achievements, save games...), biling, ads, analytics and anything else you want:)
Clean API to get/set X3D fields.
Built-in handling of PNG format
Logging improvements on Windows GUI applications.

And more... See the full release announcement (http://castle-engine.sourceforge.net/news.php?item=2015-07-05) !

Congratulations!

I have a lot to learn from you, as how to be focused to finish and promote my projects. :(

I forgot to comment that I've tested the engine, and started with the tutorial. I'm not used to the way it works but I have to finish the tutorial(s) and make something cool. ;)

I've also installed Dragon Squash in my smartphone, and I think it is easy (I've complete all levels in two days) but it's nice. Good job! I may suggest more variaty in dragons, and attacks.

The latest engine version is now on GitHub https://github.com/castle-engine/castle-engine and we have made a *lot* of improvements since the last release, see https://www.facebook.com/castleengine :) So, if you're trying out the engine, you may consider testing the GitHub version now --- we're very close to the next CGE release:)

Thanks! We planned to add more variety to dragons, in particular to add a "kamikadze" dragon type. But for now, the "Dragon Squash" game is somewhat on hiatus. Instead we make a new cool game "Escape from the Universe" --- this one is quite a lot deeper and longer:) You can see a lot of movies and screens from it on https://www.facebook.com/catastrophegames/ .
