No an answer to your question I know, but what's wrong with SDL?

I think you're pretty much looking at SDL. :) Not many people, unfortunately have been very interested in using OpenGL for graphics.

This may be a little harsh but that's their problem. You won't find a better cross-platform 3d api than opengl

Yes i like sdl but sdl are going very slowly on my linux box.. i really can't do anything useful with it. Just the background redrawing and the mouse pointer blitting go so slow that the mouse is heavily lagged
Some one of you esperienced it too ?
It's a pity becouse they're perfectly cross platform..

What about openGL ? do someone of you have a working example of OpenGL in kylix ?

Post your specs. Also if you can try to run UT2003 on it (demo is enough). If that goes well you'll know it's not SDL but something else. UT2003 on linux goes thru SDL(and if your mouse lag with it it must be BIG problem indeed)

Have you installed your graphics drivers? Those that come normally with Linux are not for 3d or even 2d games. They are just to be there so to speak.
