Embarcadero Technologies is seeking an Architect to join the leadership staff of FireMonkey, Embarcadero’s next generation business application platform. The FireMonkey platform helps you build spectacular applications that are faster, more visually stunning, and more connected – all with native performance on Windows, Mac, and iOS.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

This position requires an individual who has an intense desire to build great software development tools and technologies that improve the lives of software developers around the world. This Architect will be one of the key leaders on the RAD Studio Team focused on evolving the FireMonkey platform. This position requires extensive coding and deep architectural experience developing applications with the latest GUI frameworks such as Flash, HTML5, or Silverlight. Working with Product Management and other technical leaders, this Architect will make technology recommendations, prioritize work, and work with other engineers on future releases of FireMonkey. This Architect will determine the practicality of product ideas based on technical factors including development feasibility and costs and will be responsible for working with other team leaders to chart the future direction of the FireMonkey platform. This Architect will also have coding duties as they implement the latest features and enhancements.
Additional Responsibilities:

  • Work with product managers, architects, and executives to plan and establish technology roadmaps, product goals, and development strategies.
  • Provide guidance and mentoring for other FireMonkey engineers.
  • Be an externally visible evangelist to customers, partners, and press.
  • Evaluate new technologies and software products to determine feasibility and desirability of incorporating their capabilities into the Company's products.
  • Prioritize work for engineering team.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop an inspired engineering organization.
  • Design and develop demo applications that showcase the power of FireMonkey.
  • Code writing responsibilities are included in this position.

Required Skills and Experience:
The ideal candidate will earn the respect of the team through technical skills, experience, and judgment. Experience designing and building commercial grade software development tools is required. Strong, modern user interface skills on Mac, iOS, and Android platforms as well a deep understanding and relevant experience creating reusable components and frameworks.
Additional skills and experience:

  • 5-7+ years of experience building world class, visually stunning applications for Windows or other platforms.
  • Strong C++/Delphi language skills with multiple years building highly visual applications and components.
  • Knowledge and understanding of common development platforms such as Microsoft Visual C++, Eclipse, Xcode as well as common database connectivity and middleware technologies.
  • Knowledge and experience with any of the following platforms: Flash, HTML 5, or Silverlight platforms.
  • Experience building Android or iOS Mobile applications.
  • Experience working with teams in multiple locations and time zones.
  • Deep understanding of product development best practices, lean, agile teams, quality process, and good judgment for trade‐off decisions.

Education

  • One or more advanced degrees in engineering or computer science. Research background in a related field with patents granted is a plus.
