Well I guess it's not always bad lol.
Like a sound for a fire or something like that, I mean it can certainly variate alot but the point is that it's basic natural sound, so anyway you go about it, it should sound roughly the same, so why re-do it.

You could create your sounds with Fruity Loops, not really that hard, and the sounds can be pretty good.
