Multiplexity: Planetar

Nice work Alex.

Can I repost this on the PascalGameDev channel on YouTube? Also, I'd like to use some of the parts where you are moving about the tools in another ad for the PGD Annual, if thats ok with you as well?

Hmm, it was not really intended as promotion material. This was just something I made in the final hour before I went to bed yesterday. Nothing too fancy really. With a bit of effort it can be done much better.

If you dont mind waiting till sunday, I probably have something that might suit your needs better.

Ok cool I can wait.

I'll likely have cut it up and taken select pieces in Movie Maker anyhow. The reason for it's use in the next/last PGD Ad is for background activity fill. I'll be flipping through footage and screenies on screen while the host talks about the PGD site and community, etc...

Your entry takes priority though. Don't let my other things get in the way.

I'm afraid I have some bad news again.
While working on my entry last evening my laptop suddenly crashed.

For a few seconds the screen became filled with little square blocks, followed by a loud beep. After the restart the screen remained black, even though it appeared to be restarting (judging by the sound of the hard disk and the flickering lights). I attached a second monitor which did receive a signal, although it was hardly readable. With lines and dots all over the screen, I was able to make out that it performed a disk diagnostic followed by the windows login screen. I could still use the login button, but instead of going to the desktop it started to reboot again.
I have gone through this cycle a couple times, but each time with the same result.

While browsing the internet, at the office today, I found out that there have been several reports about this issue. A few people have reported solutions, but they all involve opening the laptop and check cables, and connectors.

I hope that in my case it is in fact a loose connector or cable and that it will fix the problem. If not, well...

Not really, no. I think the video card is broken. As soon as I turn on the laptop, the fan starts spinning, but that only lasts for a second or two and then it stops.
I've tried opening the laptop to check for loose connectors, but couldn't find any.

Fact is, with my laptop now gone as well, I nolonger have a pc to continue my entry. I'm planning on getting a replacement today, but I doubt I'm able to submit my entry tomorrow.

As for backups; I have all the sourcecode on a separate medium so that is not going to be a problem. All resource files for the graphics however are still on my laptop...

Thanks, I can use some of that right now.

PS1. WILL, you can use the video I posted earlier, as I probably wont be able to create any new ones for a while.

PS2. I'm not giving up just yet. I did not work for 3 months, just to let it strand here :!: I will get this thing finished!!

Bloody hell mate, you take a pounding and keep on coming Good on ya

I wish you the best of luck getting your machine sorted out and I hope you have enough time to get your entry in with time for this stage deadline.

Is it possible to get a USB drive caddy for your laptop hard-drive?

Just a thought.

Any luck with either your new or 'current' system?

Don't forget to submit what you have (even if you missed goals) for the deadline. It does still count for something after all.

Just an fyi, with your permission, I've posted a copy of your video on the PascalGameDev YouTube channel to inspire those that would like to see how games are and can be made using Delphi, FPC/Laz, Chrome, etc...

So it's clear though, anyone can do this. If you want your own making of video posted, feel free to PM me about it.

Thanks for the support guys!

Well, its been a long day today (currently 2:45am) but I'm more or less up and running again.
After having postponed the decision to buy a new pc (mainly because of Vista, prices of a dx10 gpu etc) for a couple months (my regular pc broke down somewhere November last year iirc), I just couldn't wait any longer.

After having replaced the old motherboard, cpu, gpu and OS today, I'm now the proud owner of a 'highend' pc running Vista. (yes you got that right, Vista ).

There's still a bit of software I have to install, before I'm really back on track again, but in all, I'm a happy camper again.

As far as my entry goes. Well, there is no way I meet the goals for this stage and with the graphics resources still unavailable for a while, I'm up for a hell of a task, getting it all done.

With the final deadline a little over a month away, I hope this really was the last setback
