Thread: Music supplier site

If you wanna buy FL, you should at least take interest in the "FL Studio Fruity Edition", because the cheapest edition they offer lacks in "Piano Roll" and "Playlist" and believe me - these are a must. It's around 63 pounds - is that much for you? If I were to buy it, it's probably the cheapest music software with such possibilities ever to me.

I've got few mates who are beatmakers. They say that without a keyboard (I mean the instrument) it's harder to compose any music. So you might want to also buy one - I believe you don't need anything fancy; a basic one will do well. Also, they said it's nice to look for so-called "soundfonts" - these are banks of different instruments. For all I know, they are available for free. I've got 8gb of soundfonts.

    I've got 8gb of soundfonts.
Now I do know about them (lmms) and have to say that at most I have 180mb of them... 8gb though makes the 'srsly' statement come to mind. In my book though, anything above £50 is too expensive. For now its finale, cubase and lmms. Maybe for earlier next year FL will make its way onto my HDD. And earlier when I said keyboard, I meant instrumental. I have plenty of QWERTY's lying around (although they're PS2) and I have a shortage of native USB ones. But to some it up: Soundfonts do rule.
I once tried to change the world. But they wouldn't give me the source code. Damned evil cunning.

FL Studio made in Delphi? That's quite impressive. Allthough I have some doubts. Is the latest version also written in delphi? I've got the feeling that eventually most popular delphi software is ported to another language because most programmers want to use C or something.

I still have an FL Studio key in my mailbox (PGD Annual prize), but I don't use it (yet) as I want to learn more about Reason. I hope I can still activate and use it. I couldn't install some other prizes (Some of those games) because they automatically disabled the activation key after some time. I don't mind though, as I'm most happy with Genetica Studio and the warm feeling of winning a compo.

Speaking of eJay, I had a free version of an eJay music program a few years back on a computer magazine disc which was pretty good, but can I find it now?...nooooooo....

I don't suppose anyone here has a free version of eJay from a magazine disc or similar that they could share?

if so, can you PM me?

    cheers,
    Paul

Hey paul, do you happen to know what version you had? Or what year or magazine the disc could have been from? It would be a little helpful when hunting for the right thing judging by how many versions are out there. Although since at some point you had the full software couldn't you erm... you know like... nevermind.

To be honest I can't recall what version it was, or what year I had the disc

It MIGHT have been 5 years ago? I don't know...

Hmm... I found this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/EJay which shows a quite large problem tracking down what we're after here... Id guess that if it is from eJay specifically its most likely to be Mix Cd producer of techno 4/5 if I am not misunderstanding anything.

Also a quick google for techno 5 revels less, erm, 'commonly visited' parts of the web where such an app is made 'available'...

Edit: PS: If you find that this is telling too much and too much of a hint please feel free to notify me or straight out deletion / edition of this post will/athena. I don't mean to go down that route but paul technically has/had a license for said software so...

The most expensive thing in music production are instruments - I mean VSTi plugins, and you can use them even with open source OpenMPT tracker. Soundfonts or VST effects also can be run with OpenMPT.
You may have noticed that the sound quality of music trackers is weak, but if you use VSTi, you will get very good results. Of course, if you have FruityLoops, you don't need OpenMPT.

There are many free VST plugins, for example: http://smatni.tripod.com/safwanmatnivstplugins/
With a large library of plugins you will not have to worry about the sound effects for your games.

I have HipHop eJay from a magazine disc, but I never used it - this is only Mixer or something.

Hmm... VST rings a bell - Ah yes: Finale. They sure are one heck of a great invention And cheers for that link. I'll be sure to put it to good use in my next compositions. XD
