Okay, looking for some suggestions on some really decent 3D Modellers I could use to make some stuff for my game (Starcruisers for the most part.). I've used 3DSMAX and Lightwave before, and I *really* got good with modelling stuff with LW before if that helps. I don't have the cash to buy anything like those, however, so I must look into freeware or shareware. So far i've found Milkshape3D to be great for format changing, but poor for modelling.. I've found Wings3D to be really great for modelling, but it's still in its early phases and lack of being able to use the "4 window" view makes it a pain in the ass right now. What else is out there that I can use? Texturing is not important to me right now. Nor is rendering. No, I dont have over $100 to spend, so dont list off maya, etc :) Thanks.

possibly GMax and work with quake formats and the tempest (I think) addin. Since you know 3DSMax already the modelling side should be easy enough for you, and Q3 model format or loading code should be findable i think (know of no specifics though).

I'd perservere with Wings though - once you get used to the 1 window approach it's fantastic...

Perhaps you can give a try at the Aztec3D modeler:

http://aztec.sourceforge.net/aztec.php

I've just heard about it (that's a small download).
