Hello all,

This is my first post and I hope no one takes offense at my question but I recently got started in Delphi and just discovered DelphiX and I've run into a few posts in various forums suggesting DelphiX shouldn't be used for all sorts of reasons. (It has WinXp issues, it's sprite engine is buggy, etc...) and I would just like to know if there is any truth to any of this.

Thanks.

Main problem as it seems to me is what latest update to DelphiX is based on DirectX7 and it's getting less and lesss support. Even MS fallback implementation of DX7 on DX9 drivers and HW vendor's drivers starting to raise some anomalies with it.
But many people still use DelphiX as easy entry to DirectDraw/Direct3D programming. So, IMHO for hobby programming DelphiX is good library, but for serious one you should look at alternatives.

Could you please name the larger ones? I am new to game programming with Delphi, and would like to know what alternatives there are.

Is there perhaps a site with comparison beetwen the alternatives?

I made this some time ago and just updated it. Might be helpful:

There are too many "Updated regularly" for component sets with last update happened in 2003 year...

Great, just what I was looking for! :)

A question, though; for PowerDraw, it sais on your page "Last updated: September 2004", yet on the specified homepage, the latest version is from February 2003. Is there a new version somewhere, or did you get the date wrong?

No, check the powerdraw forum on this website. You can download an experimental version of PowerDraw there.
