Hi!

Djuk njuk is a 2d shooter game that i've been working on for quite a while now. Its made in Delphi 7 with Opengl. Right now the only goal is to shoot up all the monsters in each stage, but later i might include a 2 player mode or even a internet multiplayer play.

Its the holiday season, so I made a X-mas version. :)

Please try it and tell me what you think.

Edit: Get the latest version at: http://www.djuknjuk.tk/

A promising start but I had problems with the graphics. The transparency does not work on my machine. Athlon 2800XP, GeForce FX 5800 grahpics card. 1 GB Crucial DDR400. Could be an OpenGL thing but I've not had any probs with anything else. Any clue?

I saw that at a friend on a Radeon 9100, but it dissappeared, when he updated his drivers.
Maybe i set the alpha function too specific for some drivers or cards. I had it set at glAlphaFunc(GL_NOTEQUAL, 1/255); and the transparent color was $01000000. Now I changed it to glAlphaFunc(GL_LESS, 1/255); and the transparent color $10000000. I hope this fixes it.

Replace the original Djuk.dat with the file inside the zip

Edit: Removed the link to the fix, because there is a new version that already has this issue fixed

Nice!

I'm suffering from the same transparency problem, which makes it quite difficult to play. The PC I used (at work) has a really crappy gfx card though, radeon 7000, but it ran real smooth, good job!
(Note, I'm not allowed to update drivers!)

Some things I noticed:
 The dropdownlist, with the resolutions, is not fixed. I did not dare to enter other values, but I reckon it'll give an error upon submitting.
 It might be nice to have a percentage bar or something like that, when the game is loading. That way the user is able to see how long its going to take. It also removes the feeling, that the game is somehow stuck/crashed.
 The transparency problem made it extra hard, but IMO, currently I'm dying too quickely. Could be me, but I usually dont last longer than 15 seconds or so.
 I could have missed it, but it would be nice to have the option to aim. Right now I can only fire forward, which gives me the disadvantage of being shot in the legs/feet, when I'm standing on a hill.
 better graphics wouldn't hurt

Hope this helps

[edit]didn't see the updated file until after posting this message, but the transparency problem has been fixed!
Also, i'm dying less often now, sweet!

Thanks.

You can enter other values in the resolution list, but they have to be written in the same formatting, and offcourse.. you monitor has to support it.
I used to have a function, that automatically selected the highest refresh rate, but it didn't work well... it sometimes selected a too high refresh rate. Ill check if i still have that function, but as i can remember it was a driver bug on my old geforce2.

On my 9600xt the loading takes for about 3 seconds, so i didn't pay much attention to the loading screen. There already is a fade out effect at the end of the load... and i'm making a fade in effect for the beggining, so this shouldn't be a problem anymore.

And ill probably add mouse aiming in the future.

Ill release a new fixed version tommorow. :)

As promised I uploaded a new version. It it at the same address as the last one:
http://freeweb.siol.net/dpotoc2/DJUK/DN_Xmas.exe

It fixes some more bugs, i optimized a couple of things(especially particles), made the loading fadein effect, and i changed the weapon system a little.

Hi HairyFotr,

Nice work, though I don't have the time to try out demos at this time, I'm most curious as to how your games looks. Perhaps if you have some screenshots we'd be able to catch a glimps of it before hand?

Also if you have a development site up I can post a news bit on it and see if others would be interested in your project.

Best of luck with the game! ;)

The project site is http://www.djuknjuk.tk, but a better page is in the making, and i'm prepearing the code for a open-source release, so i think the news would be a lot more interesting when the project goes open-source.
Can't really say, when ill release the source, but hopefully this month.

There's a quick screenshot here:

The new site is finally up (http://www.djuknjuk.tk)
And there is a new version avaliable.
A screenshot can be found @http://freeweb.siol.net/dpotoc2/DJUK/S2.PNG

Before releasing the source code i have to make the code look nicer, add some features and make better tools for converting pictures and making maps. I hope ill do that by the end of the month, but i can't say for sure, because ill have a lot work at school, because we have some tests comming up.
