Based on the previous (Are you happy with your coding practises) thread and the fact that I need more models for a new game - I have started putting my hand to doing some modelling.

I am using Milkshape 3D and also Vue Esprit 3 Lite (Free download).

(can be downloaded from http://www.cairnsgames.co.za/dgdev/models/house2.ms3d

and this scene was made with a table and a chair modelled in Milkshape but arranged in Vue Esprit.

MilkShape can export into 3DS format that can then be imported into Vue Esprit. Unfortunatly the textures dont get copied accross so they have to be redone each time.

Hey, not too bad. These are some of your first scenes/models huh?

I did the chair and table a few months ago. But havn't done anything since then until I did that house above (yesterday).

The chair and table are all created using boxes. The house I created by first creating vertexes and then manually creating the faces.

I am trying to create a Kings Quest type of game (Where is Robin Hood) - as my entry for the remakes one button contest. For this I am using Vue Esprit for the landscaping, unfortunatly it doesn't come with enough house models so I need to create my own.

(I dont think I have time to complete my entry but it seems like a fun idea)

Thanks - I'd forgotten about that site. I've looked at the models there before but was never able to use them - maybe now I can :)

in my opinion, best 3d modelling free app is wings3d. only 3Mb size, it's fastest lowpoly modeler i've used. it have some excelent features and it can be slightly compared with commercial apps such as mirai, modo or silo.

you can find it at www.wings3d.com
