Not sure how many of you feel 'Part of the Industry' but:

Dear IGDA user,

We would like to compile demographics/diversity data on the game industry
workforce in order to get a better sense of who's working on games.

To create an accurate picture of who we all are, we would like you to fill
out a short ANONYMOUS survey:

http://www.igda.org/survey/?sid=6

The survey has 18 brief questions and it should only take two minutes to
complete. The deadline for survey submissions is Friday, July 15.

As a small token of appreciation, you will have a chance to win a Sony PSP
for completing the survey.

Also, it would be great if you could pass along this email, or the survey
link, to your colleagues. The more people who take this survey, the better
picture we will have of the industry.

Some strange questions, yes. But I'll do anything to try to get a Sony PSP. :)

Ah... I think this survey is aimed more for the North American people. See this is not so much a big issue in Europe and Australia as it is here. Being as here we have had so many movements in womens rights and black rights and gay rights and everyone elses rights everwhere. Everyone wants more and more rights. (nevermind my personal feelings on how they should handle their responsabilities too, but thats a seperate issue)

It's sort of the 'in' thing to beat these issues to death and put it right up there for all to see. It's a good thing in a way, but gets taken too far sometimes with big companies just because the different types of people simply aren't interested right away or the numbers happen to be low for some reason. Though you may only see this type of argument from those in widely mixed cultured cities like my hometown Toronto(in Canada).

Diversity is the North American way of saying 'gender, sexual orientation and racial consideration'.
