To be honest I don't know if fissionchips303 does tracking or not, so this may not be the on-topic place for him. :)

Your misson should you choose to accept it... is to bring your musical friends to PGD. BeRo, we here at PGD need you --yes YOU!-- to invite kidnap and possible seduce your fellow trackers to come and post and be a member of the PGD site.

Fissionchips, same! ;)

Basically the idea is to just hang outand talk about the same music issues you would on other sites or on chat IMs. But we want to increase the amount of discussions about music and sound here. And having more artists to interact with we will also have a network between programmers, project leaders and musicians, with is handy for all involved IMO.

This message will not self-distruct in any amount of time... so umm, ya... :lol:

Maybe I should just do onto others as they have done onto me and SPAM their asses and attract all kinds of random attention. :D It ain't gay porn or bondage, but I'm sure that someone will be offended by making games in Pascal. ;)

First of all, LPChip may not be the most flexible person I know, but it's very uncool to trash talk people on a public forum.

Secondly, most game projects fail. Of course you know your own project won't, but at least my personal experience is that they do. My advice for you is this: make the game first. At least a demo, preferrably playable. Then you can start looking for musicians and graphic artists.

LPChip is an owner of Afterwarp Interactive (as well as I am) and is my friend. My post was a joke (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joke), if you had difficulty realizing that and is mostly rip-off of the same message I posted many times on our own forums (you can call it a local joke, if you like). Is LPChip an arrogant tracker? Yes he is, but he is also the best of all music trackers I've known, not to mention that he makes an excellent game music.

And you my friend should take jokes less seriously and relax a little bit. :)

Hehe, I'm sorry but I'm all new at this site and didn't realize it was an inside joke. Besides, from what I know of him, the description was spot on.

You seem to share his refined sense of humour, as I never got his jokes either. ;)

Well, I'm not trying to get musicians for MY project! :P I want more musicians to be apart of this community. My whole point of this post was to get other musicians to start up conversaions about game development and sound and music theory and technical issues. And to help boost the musical and sound content and interest in this site.

Why does the game development world and the musical world have to be so seperated? I'd hate to think that no musicians are interested in the process of making the music to meet a game's technical requirements, or would be comepletely unwilling to share whatever technical knowlage or theory about the musical world... This would make no sense to me.

I want musicians and people that work sound in general to be welcomed here. But with no feedback, it's rather hard. Suggestions???

About the game engine's progress: I had posted one some time ago... (In one of my threads about the game's design.) It was only a technical demo showing the player running around a temporarily coded-in map I made on the spot, but it did use actual main character graphics. I have yet to update the one I posted with the climbing routeen I made up, as I am currently trying to add the weapons system and shot handling routeens. Sounds easier than it is. I'm trying to make it more scalable than a simple 'fire in one direction' type of fire. I'm hoping to add several types of weapons like flame throwers, thrown objects, special energy weapons and melee type attacks. It's an sticky process as to deciding how far I want to go with it, yet trying to not break or conflict with any of my current functioning systems I have in place already or will have down the road from now.

I find it a simpler task to just do the art/music yourself than to sign on someone competent and willing to help. Just what I've personally encountered.

Again, my point is being missed. It's about attracting NEW musicians who like game development to be a part of the site. NOT getting them here just to bug them to do our project's music. :roll:

Even if they're here the likelyhood that music will be contributed for either free or fee is low. Just what I've found, that's all. Just getting them here is just that, participation is what we need.

I think you got my point without knowing it. :) Allow me to explain it better...

Take a look at the site's content. In the Library and in the articles. It mostly pertains to programming--fair enough, since we are mostly programmers, right? But there is also some information about project management, writting, graphics and audio too. This is a huge part of game development that cannot simply be slapped together with code. There is more technique and skill involved than that.

So... you get artists and musicians in the site posting about all these non-programming topics, discussing issues, reading staff-written content and such.

Stuff people nagging them about your latest projects. Get them talking about their skills and learned tricks. Get someone in the staff who is a musician, graphics artist or is a writter (:lol: imagine that a professional writter writting for the site as a writter. :P) and add them to the site staff and have them write articles about topics of interest to game musicians or game artists or story writters and game project managers. Also find interesting tutorials and articles about all the these non-programming areas and add them to the library for reference. All this to help encourage the musicians and graphics people to join in the community more.

Thats what this thread is about and thats what I am trying to encourage feedback about. Right now I could care less who has a project that needs music or doesn't thats another topic all together.

So getting back onto topic. Does anyone have any ideas to this end?

It's not just going to be a 'Hey, I need music!' type of involvement. I'm hoping to get a more connected musician/project development area of topics going.

Themes like; Changing Mood, how to establish atmosphere, how to cut, edit, splice it the way the programming team needs it, How to develop a good cohesion with the development team as a musician, etc...

Also there will be the usual, how to use this/that and how to do this/that with sound and music.
