I initially stumbled onto this project while browsing GameDev's image gallery ('http://www.gamedev.net/community/forums/gallery.asp?forum_id=62') when I came across the image for Gang War ('http://www.gamedev.net/community/forums/topic.asp?topic_id=347017')...

This is my RTS/Action hybrid "Gang War". I've been working on it for close to 2 years now. I wrote the game engine myself from scratch, and I contracted several artists to create the character/vehicle models. I've entered it into the 2006 IGF ('http://www.igf.com/php-bin/entries2006.php?entry_id=45') *crosses fingers*, and I also have a publisher ('http://www.strategyfirst.com/en/') for the game.

As you may have guessed the game is essentially an RTS version of Grand Theft Auto where you can *jump* into the gang member and control them.

You can follow Dan's progress on the engine and the problems he faces by reading his blog ('http://www.gamedev.net/community/forums/mod/journal/journal.asp?jn=323649').

I hope his story inspires more of you to greater things as an indie game developer.
