As I own trueSpace 4.3 ( not done anything with it yet though ), I recently got an email announcing the latest and greatest trueSpace modeller, namely trueSpace 7 ('http://www.caligari.com/Products/trueSpace/ts7/Brochure/intro.asp?Cate=BIntro')...

With trueSpace7 we are introducing several revolutionary breakthroughs :

?¢_¬¢ Real-time immersive 3D authoring collaboration, with standalone collaborative truePlay viewer which is free to all (not just to trueSpace7 owners)

?¢_¬¢ Next generation real-time physics engine

?¢_¬¢ Role-based authoring with user editable layouts. In fact, you can edit almost every aspect of interface including toolbars, 2D panels and 3D widgets, and save them to libraries

?¢_¬¢ DX9 based real-time photorealistic engine with silky smooth interaction during modeling, surfacing, lighting or animation of 1M+ Polygon models, including soft shadows, anti-aliasing, projector lights, glows and more.

?¢_¬¢ Three seamlessly integrated offline photo renderers: Lightworks, VirtuaLight and optional V-Ray

?¢_¬¢ Integrated multi-pass rendering from the Lightworks engine, with output to Photoshop layers (previously available as separate $200 product, now a standard part of trueSpace7)

?¢_¬¢ Next generation subdivision surface modeling and polygonal modeling with soft selection

?¢_¬¢ Ability to edit HLSL as well as Lightworks materials with direct manipulation and link them to create shaders of unlimited complexity

?¢_¬¢ Procedural materials, models, animations, behaviors or entire multi-user activities can be created with the new scripting engines, or even by direct manipulation with revolutionary Link Editor without writing a single line of script or code

?¢_¬¢ Once you have created animated or even interactive 3D content, you can easily upload it to online 3D servers and make it accessible for collaboration with your friends or customers either through trueSpace7 or through the free standalone truePlay application

?¢_¬¢ Distributed message-passing kernel with network engine and support for upcoming massively parallel, multi-core processing CPUs and GPUs

FYI, I'll be contacting Caligari again to see if they are willing to provide any prizes for next year's PGD competition.
