Hello all.

I have realised a childhood dream ! Making a game :D
This is the first game I ever made. It's written in Delphi (with DelphiX). Please, give me your opinion.

The game is a remake of Pang ( an oldies, but, I'm sure that everybody here know it !)

Download the game here (http://globsoftware.info/index.php?option=com_remository&Itemid=3&func=fileinfo&id=5)
And watch some screenshot here (http://globsoftware.info/index.php?option=com_ponygallery&Itemid=8&func=viewcategory&catid=3)

Thank for your advices and your remarks....

Hello Termulator and wellcome to PGD!

First of all congratulations for your dream come true! Completing a game
is like to have a son IMO, you should be proud of!

Just downloaded the game and played, here comes some opinions:

-As a Pang clone I think 20Mb of download are really to much, also
because the gfx is not a masterpiece.. I think you can go below 5Mb if
you work around with photoshop or paintshop..

-The game itself looks very solid but in details it doesn't. The gravity
algorithm for the balls is wrong, collision detection is quite nasty too..

-When you die you're kicked back to the main menu without any message
or gameover screen.

-The player sprite is ripped from the original or is a poor try to draw a
similar one, it's way too far from the balls and the background, you should
choose a theme, cartoonish or more realistic.

Apart from the above points it can be a good game even if i would not
pay 13-19 euro for a game like this. At least if i was a Pang fan i would
expect something more.

 Just an hint on coding clones, play play play play and play again the
original title. Recode it as good as the original (if you can) and then go
for the improovements

Keep on the good work anyway, you got potential, just use it better :)

Bye

Thank for your welcome and your advices.

I think you are right, the download is too big. I'll had to compress the music (16 Mo :(), but I don't find a valid free mp3 library for delphi.

Concerning the gravity, I'll check my algo, because, it's true, I'm not really satisfied by the ball movement.

For the end game screen, It's a pretty nice bug ! I'll investigate this.

Then, concerning the graphics, you are (again) right the character is a poor try ! I'm not an artist :D

So, I'll check my work back !
Whatever, thank you for your opinion.

I gave it a try as well and I have little to add to FNX' comments. They're all valid.

Overall I think the game is quite difficult. It could've been me but I did not get past the first level. The fact that you have to redo the level gets a bit annoying after a while hence the fact I gave up after about 7 or 8 tries.

Perhaps if you change the entire level redo in a lost of health or something it might work better.

Keep it up!

Thanks for your response.
Can you please make a test for me : during the game, press the 'F' Key to display the framerate.
I try t setup the game speed (and ball movement) for 25 FPS. If you have a too high FPS, may be there is a problem in the synchronization.

Thank you all again for your advices. It will help me to corrects the problems and I'll try to make this remake better and better.

Edit :
And thanks to your advices and the community, I've decrease the setup file from 20Mo to less than 6 Mo

Thanks again.
