It is pretty much still in the planning stage, but the folks at retroremakes.com (http://www.retroremakes.com) are working on the finer details of yet another competition, which, I've read, is going to be similar as the ones held in 2003 and 2004.

As said, it is still in the planning stage, and as such there's no starting date known at this time, but, in case you wish to know more you can read up here (http://www.retroremakes.com/forum2/showthread.php?t=6162). I'm sure they'll place the finer details in there as soon as they're available.

The RetroRemakes 2003 contest was the first contest I entered :) - Since then there have been 10!

:)

But I dont really like remake contests. Though I really want to remake Civilisation :)

Civ was awesome! ;) Actually if I had to choose between that and game close to it, I'd pick Master Of Magic. ;) or something close to it's style.

Civ has been remade quite a few times already - even in Delphi.

Remakes are cool. I did a remake of Rebelstar (fore runner to XCOM) and I would love to redo a rebelstar game in 3d isometric or 3d fullstop.

The last (and first) competition I was in was linux-SDL 4(!) years ago (submitted catapults).. from some reason the competition always fell on my semester final or/and big project at work.. :(

maybe I’ll just code packmen in 2 hours, just for the heck of it! :idea: maybe packmen FPS...

Packmen eh? May I point you to page one, item six, subsection ii of the rules? It says all 8 & 16bit remakes are allowed, excluding those game that have been made by anyone and their grandmother. Unfortunately that includes pacman :wink:

I don't think my grandmother could program pacman, but then I have not seen her for about 3 years now, so she may have learned a thing or 2 since then.

IceBladeMush (my artist) and I have decided on a game - nice and easy game - quick to do and very customizable :)

I wonder if I can submit all of the demos for JumpStart as entries :). Since we have done quite a few already (Minesweeper, Tetris, & Breakout). Course they all need to be cleaned up and polished, but hey they are a start.

Anyways, I'm in. I'll be re-using JumpStart, now its time to get out that dusty old box and find my favorite games again :).

Check the rules for which games are excluded as possible entries:

We request that you do not submit remakes of the following games as there are literally hundreds floating around the internet.

* Pong
* Space Invaders
* Breakout / Arkanoid
* Pacman
* Sokoban
* Space Taxi
* Tetris

Games Id like to see redone are things like Moon Patrol and Aztec. Both of which would make excellent mobile games as well.

Hands off Moon Patrol - its ours!! :)

Got some concept art for it already, working on backgrounds and parralax scrolling. (Got another small project to get out the way first though.)

Hmm... Maybe I will do Moon Patrol :). Actually I'm down to 3 choices:
Atari 2600 games
Solaris
Elevator Action

Infocom
Zork (69105 joke)
I wonder if you can submit more then one entry. Zork would be the most difficult, but could be the most fun if done properly (meaning I can find a good artist and sound author).

Entering more than one game is allowed.
