(This section hasn't been touched in ages, so just to put it to use...)

I haven't done much in the way of game development (Programming, or Graphics) in a while. So I made this little 3D cartoon minotaur (still pretty much WIP):

Quick renders:

http://members.optusnet.com.au/mnegent/Render_Three.avi [1.4mb]

I'm planning to do a short little animation with him (maybe 30secs or so).
I just created him outta bordem, something to work on, so he's not ment for anything in particular, and I probably won't do anything with him.

I mainly used Lightwave for everything, Super Cel Shader for the cartoon look, and SasLite for the fur. Total model and rigging time, approx 6 hours or so.

So yeah, just what I've been up to lately, C&C welcome.

That's pretty cool indeed.

Yeah, sorta kinda :)

Here's a couple of scans:

http://members.optusnet.com.au/mnegent/Minotaur_first.jpg
http://members.optusnet.com.au/mnegent/Minotaur_full.jpg

The first scan is the very first sketch I drew of him (very roughly on a scrap of old paper :P), long before I even thought about trying to model him in 3D.

The second pic is probably the 3rd or 4th pic I drew of him, looking pretty much finished. It was about here that I actually contemplated modeling him up .

He did get modified slightly from the transition to 3D, most notibly his ears, a lot smaller and straighter. And with cel shading, he did lose a bit of detail around the chest area. I also decided to make him look fatter in the final version, with thicker legs and shorter overall; even though I had planed on him being skinning, just with a cow pot belly :P :P.

Hey Kaz, nice job! ;)

Well you already know I'm a fan of your work. But this, I think is one of your best so far.

Can't wait to see the mini-video...

K4Z, are the ears also jointed so that you can get them flapping on a windy day?

Yep , both ears and nose ring are jointed, and will dangle in the wind and as he moves his head. I haven't played much with dynamics in Lightwave, so my main problem is trying to get it to look and work properly, and also setting up collisions :P.

He used lightwave for this :)

Too bad he kind of disappeared on us. I'm sure there's at least one person here that would want him to come back and continue making these kind of graphics
