As promised some days back I finally release version 1.53 of NewtonPlayGround (http://newton.delphigl.de/newtonplayground.html).

For those that do not know about it : It's a "sandbox" for creating all kind of physical scenes and uses the Newton Game Dynamics (http://www.newtondynamics.com) Engine for realtime physics simulation. You can create even complex scenes by connecting objects in different ways (joints, springs, compounds, etc.) and export them to and import them from XML. The fileformat is easy to use (human-readable) and so you can even use NewtonPlayGround to create scenes for your own games or applications.

This new release brings two new features, skinned ragdolls (for realistic body physics, not only for humanoid models) and magnetic objects, which make up for some nice dynamic behaviour. Other than that there are some bugfixes and smaller changes, and also some changes to the userinterface, e.g. a new context menu for objects that now uses graphical icons instead of plain buttons with text. And as usual there are some new examples included to show off the new features.

And not to forget, here are some shots from the new version :

For those interested : NewtonPlayGround is written using Delphi (started with 7.0, now using Turbo Delphi), uses OpenGL for rendering (nothing special here, except maybe for the shadows which are rendered using stencil shadov volumes) and as you guess uses the Newton Game Dynamics Engine for realtime physics.

A suggestion about the screen shots, could the larger images be shown when you click on them?

Ah sorry, that was my intention but somehow I meses it up. You now get the bigger screenshots by clicking on the thumbnails.
