Hi guys,
dunno if it's the right place to post this, admins please move this to a
better location if needed ;)

I found out this tool, called Web Game Builder.
http://www.etiumsoft.com/webgamebuilder.htm

In a few words it transform a standard exe game (Delphi, VB, C++ whatever..)
to an activex viewable as a web app, like a java applet.
It is amazing because in a couple of clicks you can see your standard
delphi game running in a web page (my games works perfectly).

Now, there are 2 issues:

1-i dunno if it's a free version limitation but after 10-15 seconds the
browser close itself (like end process in the task manager) so i'm unsure
if to buy this tool or not.

2-I'm curious to know if some of you know a way to do the same
manually, to convert a game package/folder into activex to be executed
into a web page.

I think this is very interesting because it makes possible to let people try
your game directly into the website before download it! Very useful for
shareware/try before buy stuff!

Wait for comments/infos ;)

I'm not sure whether this is a good idea or not.

I see this as a potentially massive security hole..

Allowing this activeX control to run will allow potentially unsafe code to be run on your machine.. (I gues that the same can be said for downloading and running) but at least your Anti-Virus software has a chance to check out the software before you run it.

This also falls down if the end user has turned off ActiveX controls because of security concerns.

If I want to play a web game, I'll play a flash or Java game . At least it's reasonably safe and cross platform. ActiveX is M$FT only.

Sorry if this sounds like I'm Naysaying, Just offering a point of caution. Feel free to disregard.

Hi jasonf,
actually i'm working on a big italian game portal that will be online around
march-april 2007 and we have contacted many game providers like
PopCap or Ganymede.

PopCap for instance, developer of Zuma and Bejeweled to name a few,
actually uses activex for their games, and they are the biggest online
game developer around (i heve their mission documents).

Of course using IE you have to enable activex to be executed but in
many game portals around it works like that. See Pogo or Miniclip for
examples.

Also if i put my games online that way, the visitor know who the source
is, so he can decide if to trust me as content provider or not, it's not
a business for me so...

Anyway, all the comments are welcome of course! :)
