Linux running on PS3 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ZXcuhJkwx4

Fedora 5 and Yellow Dog Linux have both released versions for the PS3. Still no XB360 port of Linux yet.

Useless tho, you only get access to system ram (256mb) and hypervisor only gives you basic framebuffer access to nvidia chip - no 3D acceleration.

So, basicly it is a linux on a powerful cpu with little ram and no gpu.

Yeee of little faith :). The Linux community has *hacker* as part of it's DNA, someone will write a driver to get the most out of that NVidia chip. Just a matter of time me thinks.

i also heard the ps3 would come with linux preinstalled?

Anyway i hope an opengl api will come available for it. The official linux for ps2 came with one, unfortunately it only offered an subset of opengl, but there also was an community build one that has more features.

Here is the offical installation instructions from sony:

Also the linux running on it seem to be ppc based. So this means free pascal can run on it and compile for it! I hardly can wait until the european release next year.

Yes, the Playstation 3 runs standard Linux/PPC from it, so Free Pascal PowerPC Linux should run on it right away. The only thing that can spoil the fun is a Cell specific surpise (Power processors are slightly different from PowerPC processor), however I think we have tackled those problems now.

Has anyone tried to implement a Xross Media Bar for their game or as a shell/Desktop extension for Windows? Imagine if that became the preferred way of navigating Windows Vista. I'd laugh until my sides hurt.
