I released 1.3.1 version of the Blow Everything Up Net Game.

This is a multiplayer 2D shooter written in Delphi 5.
There are 18 maps, 7 characters and 3 game modes.
Weapons: Glock, shotgun, rocket launcher, grenades and special
weapons. Additional weapons you can selected, when you have 100 points
of adrenaline.

Some screens:

It would be great, if you download the game (game+server, 83 MB): http://seasoft.robal.org/download/beunet131.zip

I've created dedicated server (1.2 MB): http://seasoft.robal.org/download/dedicated131.zip

My Homepage: http://seasoft.victorygames.com.pl

I need only more players and more servers :). I'll never finish this project, because it is the Multiplayer Game (Will be more updates in future).

Good graphics, nice GUI.

1 thing, in the installer you used the win 3.1 components to select the install directory. I recommend to change them as they are out dated and don't fit with you very-nice-looking-gui.

ps>> I'm now running a dedicated server temporarily...

Thanks, I saw your server, but it is on Low IP - I couldn't join it :(.

Very awesome work (especially since I'm a sucker for top-down shooters)! Had a nice overall professional feel to it, and some cool nice hand-drawn character portraits to boot. Not to mention nice graphics. :)

Gah, how long ago did you start on this project? It's strikingly similar to one of mine, but it's evident that we both developed seperate of eachother's influence. Yours is certainly both graphically and content-wise head and shoulders over mine!

Also, how did you do your trees? Is it just a few different 'flat' layers shifting with the wind? Irregardless, they look very nifty.

Keep up the great work!

I had started this project about 8-10 months ago. Thank you for your positive opinions :D

NecroDOME -> Yes, it works. Thanks for hosting the server, but remember, that the server is VERY hungry and for 16 players needs 2560 kbps. I have got ADSL 512/128 and can host only 4 players without lags. But the client could be played on modem. The server network requirements are one of my biggest problem :(.

But your server works and it's great :D Thanks!

It's my private server with internet sharing, so if it's TOO hungry i'll put it offline or limit the upload rate...

S.Producer
07-12-2006, 10:54 AM
OK, so I'll put a table with upload speed and max. number of players:

SERVER:

128kbps - 4 players
512kbps - 7 players
2048kbps - 14 players

CLIENT:
56 kbps modem connection - 5 players
128 kbps - 12 players
384 kbps - 32 players

IMO the game with 5 players is dynamic enough. I will limit count of players to 8 (or 12), because more players could make a mess not game :). What do you think?

1. the control panel.. has no exit / save / apply button. kinda confusing..
2. when i clicked pl liero league link it exitted game without restoring previous gamma correction (gamma 2.2). i didn't quite expect it to quit game when i clicked that ;)

the maps may be a little too restrictive, just single paths, you could make better labirynths or a free to explore forest area i played a bit alone, as nobody was on the server to test it a bit, maybe you could add melee attacks, throw the empty gun at them, etc :P

Yeah, melee is a plan. In BEU Net 2007. And I will delete big maps like DM_WenHut and fix some bugs.

And if you want to play with more players, connect to the server(s) a little late (for about 3-5 hours).

Hey very nice work. For that last 24hrs or so I've been silently cheering you guys on. :) So if your wondering who put you on the news page... :D

I really like top down stuff, I think it's great. It's basically a precursor to the typical 3D platformer without all the enormous amounts of required details. So building these nice complex maps or 'worlds' is quite possible, and fun to explore.

I think if you can find a way to reduce the bandwith req. it would allow for more multi-player activity obviously, but what else can you do in this area? I'm sure you can 'pack' or strip off some overhead in your sent packets somehow. This would go a long way towards getting that huge data pipeline requirement down to what you need.

And then there is the option of compression. Nothing too complex, just fairly mild compression that can be undone on the fly. Network tunneling can do this so perhaps you can set something up on the game's network layer that will allow for this? Just a bit of a wild idea there.

Anyhow, great project, please keep us up to date. And welcome to PGD! ;)

OK, so let's rock!

Very nice game... graphics and gameplay are amazing

I have tried the singleplayer, but the game is quiet hard. The enemy always starts shooting before i know there is an enemy. And it only takes one sec for hem to blow me to smithereens. :(

I would like to have a set-level-of-difficulty option included :)

I think the cursor also moves a bit slow... maybe you should include an option for that aswell.

Unfortunatly.. there was nobody online when i tried the game so i didn't had the chance to check the multiplayer. Better luck next time :)

Whole day were loads of players on Pascal_Game_Development Server.

If nobody is playing, join and wait a while.

PS: There are 2 players playing on one server.

We have started working upon next actualization!

http://seasoft.victorygames.info/graf/logo.png

COMING SOON.

Testers are playing first alpha now!

2007 publication of BEU Net will contain:

- English & Polish (& maybe German) language version
- new maps
- improved graphics
- improved gameplay
- optimizations

and many, many more.

The game will be optimized in speed and size! 30 FPS on DM_Haze will increase to 60 FPS! And size of the setup file will be hardly decreased. The game will work better and contain more than version 1.3.1, but the setup file will be smaller!

The other thing I'll improve is gameplay. Everything will be the same, but more and better. The networking code should minimize any asynchronizations (most annoying: grenades). Some suggestions?

Of course the game will be still freeware, without any charges.

Thanks, hope it'll be as good it looks :)

Actually I have some problems with connecting players, but I think that the problem will be fixed soon. However, Alpha 2 is being created... But it's still to less for public beta.

So hows the project coming along? I noticed that the other website/server was hacked. Any problems there or is it just a dead link now?

Thank you Paizo, of course, more languages should be great. But I need some italian speech because of in-game taunts/orders menu (like in Wolfenstein: ET).

However, I'd like to present the first final release of BEU Net:

Enjoy!
