He all,

It has been a while since I posted an update on my engine project. I`ve made many improvements over the last few months:

- The engine code is moved to a dll and it has an extensive api to write new games/application with it (in progress). .
- All engine code has been reviewed and rewritten (in progress).
- New input system (done).
- New sound system (done).
- New textureloader to illeminate long loadtimes like in the previous versions (Done, map loads in 5 secs instead of 40:D).
- Intergrated nitrogens fontstudio 3 for fonts (done).
- physics for terrain, static meshes, water volumes and a realistic player movement/collision model (done).
- Rewritten terrain rendering now with texture splatting for multible detail textures instead of 1 for the entire terrain (like bf2 and crysis) (done).
- Started work on a demo game to show how to use the api (in progress).

There is still much that I have to rewrite, update and extend and I hope to release new demo at the end of februari. Until then, here are some screens of the progress:).

First the old terrain and the the new:

And some more of the new terrain. The interface you see is of the demo game which will be a small Oblivion inspired demo game with some basic features.

I like the texture splatting :)
However I'm waiting for the demo :)
Are you gonna add some plants 'n' trees? I really like to see that. Keep up the good work!

And what physics engine do you use?

Even using Billboards for plants/trees in the terrain will make the terrain engine more usable. :)

Awesome work  very nice terrain... plants and trees would definitly make it better :)

But i've one question: What is texture-splatting?? :?
