This question is asked because I prefer to know especially what a "good" language would be if that it possible to determine. I know from life that many things are possible and this should be no exception -- to ascertain what a good language is and if impossible to ascertain what comes near.

What should it have generally? I think it should have the following (including other things as well):

* Standardization
* Clarity and/or Simplicity
* Power
* Speed
* Compactness
* Expression and Intuition-tickling ability
* Multiplatform support (by compilers)
* Good easy powerful standard libraries
* Good third-party libraries aplenty
* Good documentation aplenty
