Hey!

Version 0.7.0 of my game "The Castle" (http://www.camelot.homedns.org/~michalis/castle.php) is released. "The Castle" is, in summary, a first-person shooter style game in a dark fantasy setting. It was done initially for PGD compo last year, and now it's continued.

Since we've seen DOOM screenshot on PGD a couple of days ago, here's another screenshot from bonus level of my game :) :

New features include:

Bonus level, adapted from classic DOOM E1M1 level
Ported to Mac OS X
Shadows much improved
Much more customizable contols
Many changes to existing levels to improve playability
Fixes for rendering under various OpenGLs, in particular *some* of the Radeon problems are fixed now

Along with "The Castle", there were a lot of updates to the underlying Kambi VRML game engine (http://www.camelot.homedns.org/~michalis/kambi_vrml_game_engine.php). Full list of changes is in the changes_log (http://www.camelot.homedns.org/~michalis/changes_log.php).

Have fun!

When you say ported to OSX does that mean it is still written in pascal? Do you do much development in pascal for the Mac?

Of course it's in Pascal. FreePascal fully supports OS X, you know :)

I don't work under Mac OS X often. My MacBook has Linux (Debian) installed on the other partition, and in general I do most of the development on Linux. I'm usually switching to Mac OS X (and, with much less sympathy, Windows) only to test.

Mac OS X port of my game is done by using X11, so it's mostly just another (3rd) Unix port. But, heck, even OpenOffice works this way on Mac OS X, so I'm not terribly worried :). It's not a "completely native" Mac OS X port (i.e. using a Carbon), if that's what you wanted to ask. Although a real Carbon port would be nice, it has low priority for now.

Ok thanks. I am on the lookout for a mac developer to port an application from delphi and directx to the Mac. However, we are not in a rush.
