800x600, that's the resolution I'm having to use. My monitor smoked itself and now I'm using what is quite possibly the WORST monitor I have ever seen.

60hz at 800x600 is the best it can do and my eyes hurt    :fuzzy:

I feel for you. I once had to use 800x600 on a 14" monitor at 43Hz (!!). Try to count the lines during each retrace to keep your mind occupied.

For all those who were worried about me with my low res monitor (and I know there were at least 2), I've just got meself a Sony 17" TFT screen and the world is now a much better place, thankyou :viking:

How much did that loveliness set you back? I'd go for a TFT myself but I'd much rather have a CRT monitor the size of a small moon for the same price...

Me too, given the choice. My last monitor died of unnatural causes ('liquid damage' - don't ask). So this was an insurance claim and when they couldn't get me a 17" CRT, I asked for a 19". Apparently Sony are just doing TFT's now so I was offered the 17" TFT. It's a nice thing, I wouldn't usually buy one but I like it now I've got it, especially after the awful beast that's been sat on my desk for the last few weeks

You guys enjoy TFT screens much? I'm having laptop with 15'' TFT screen & 1600x1200 resolution and that's the worst thing I've ever had. My best workplace is at home with 17'' CRT in 1024x768 85Hz resolution. If somewhen we sell millions of copies of our game and I'll be able to get a better machine that this (this includes the monitor), I'd probably go for plasma screen  believe me or not, yet I've never seen one...

i do 1280x1024, i find the more desktop space the better for programming.
