In this (http://www.pascalgamedevelopment.com/viewtopic.php?t=4905&highlight=) thread, WILL asked to write up your favourite pacal game. It reminded me of the fact that we actually do not have a list of all pascal games.
I think we all liked the video WILL made for the codegear contest. Apart from the fact that it showed us what is possible with Pascal, in those few mintues a huge list of games was displayed. So why not make a page where they are all listed?

Ok, here's the deal. You write up your game or one you know of that is not on the list and I will add it in the post below this one. Once we have a somewhat completed list, it will be placed somewhere within the PGD website.

Here's what I need:
- The name of your (or the) game
- It's location, so people can download an play it. (if available)

The games you mention must be:
- written in pascal/delphi
- completed or at least in a mature demo state.

Ok, let them come.

My two shareware games are written on Delphi.
AirHockey 3D - air hockey :)
http://avagames.net/airhockey/air-hockey-download.htm

and
Scorch an Island - a remake of Scorched Earth :
http://avagames.net/tank_battles/tank_battles.htm

Actually many of shareware games written on Delphi - for example very successful Rainbow Mystery and other games by Sugar Games seems to be written on Delphi.

List updated.

Note that I have not searched for games myself (yet). I do not want to make this my own mission. If you want your or someone else's games listed, please name them.

[Edit 20:15pm] I've added some more games which were mentioned in the projects section.

Keep em coming!

Nice. I hope you like these two:

MicroJuegos
http://212.34.137.175/~burdjia/proyecto/microjuegos01.png
It is the first complete game that uses Allegro.pas (http://allegro-pas.sf.net/). The name of the project is "MicroJuegos" (Micro Games) because I want to create a collection of small fast retro-style games.

The link of the project (temporal URL): http://212.34.137.175/~burdjia/proyecto/?ID=microjuegos&lang=en
note: If you want to compile the sources you'll need a library that isn't released yet. I'll release it soon (I hope).

Train
http://212.34.137.175/~burdjia/proyecto/train.png
This was the first 'complete' game I coded in Pascal. It used the first incarnation of Allegro. Was coded for the TINS'06 conquest (http://amarillion.bafsoft.net/tins06) and it was the 4th. in the 'overall' list.

The link of the project (temporal URL): http://212.34.137.175/~burdjia/proyecto/?ID=train&lang=en

Note: As you see, the URL are ugly. That's because I moved to another server and the DNS were undefined yet. I'll fix the URL when it works.

New games added, as wel as additional information about compiler and engine used in the development.

The list is growing steadily, but we're not there yet, so keep them coming. If you dont wish to clutter this thread, you can also pm me any new games.

WILL

Hey Alex it might be a good idea --now that I think of it-- to seperate all these games into either a 'pre-release/beta' or 'completed' listing.

I noticed that you put up Garland's Quest --and though I'm greatly flattered :D-- it's not a complete game, or even what I'd consider a 'beta' since all the pieces aren't in place to make it into a full game.

This sort of thought brought me to thinking that we could have 2 votes. 1 for Best of All Time for 'beta' state games and Best of All Time for 'completed' games.

That or we should just axe the non-completed games form the list and only consider ones that are complete.

I'll see what I can do to add to the list later this week if I have time. I'm usually on top of most things going on so I definitely know a few myself. ;)

Besides everyone can nominate for best game of all time right?

Traveler
03-10-2007, 04:07 PM
I think you're taking it a bit too far :). Let's first see if we can create a decent list with just completed (or demos of) games. Having a pre-release or beta section would add a lot of extra work imo (put them on first, replace to another section later etc). If people are indeed serious about their games then it will reach the list anyway.

I've not tested and played all listed games to see if they're in a completed or demo state or less. Currently it's more of a good faith thing, or my idea with a certain game. If people say their game needs to be on, because they say its completed, its pretty much on. I'll quickly check a website for screenshots or PDG to see if it's been mentioned anywhere, but that's it.
I'm not planning on becoming a judge for all listed or (still to be) mentioned games :)

I'm sure you could argue about some games if they should be on or not. I've played GQ and I thought it was in a pretty advanced state. There's a menu iirc, 18 or so levels, etcetera. Granted it lacks a real ending, but then, so do probably more games on this list. Like I said, if the author (you in this case) wants it removed that's fine by me as well :).

I am very sure, because I coded the GUI interface in that game and worked on some bug fixing and other tasks on the game. It is coded in Delphi.
If you have it check out the Credits, I'm listed there.
I still have not been paid for the work I did on it, but that's a whole other story!

I personally don't understand what the whole problem is with Ian's old avatar and neither does my wife and she has seen the original avatar photo. There was nothing in the photo that suggested it was pornographic, just a lady with a smile who was probably full clothed from where the photo was cropped.
If there is any issue at all it should be with people's imaginations and political correctness gone crazy. Either way the whole thing was off-topic, so please in future, either PM the person in question or start a thread in the off-topic forum. Religious views and political correctness have no place in this particular thread. I have deleted the other posts, so please get back on topic.

(Offtopic:)

I noticed there was some mmorpg style games included. I've tried numerous of "supposedly asian-based" games such as Nostale, Silkroads, Shaiya. They are all very nice ideas and good graphics but all lack in controls. If you have any level of influence to other game developers, please make them look how "World of Warcraft" or first person shooter controls and general smoothness in gameplay works :P It's just very shame when good games turn out to be bad only because controls don't feel comfortable.

Don't forget Hedgewars (http://www.hedgewars.org/) (worms clone), wich uses Free Pascal and SDL for the game engine.

And Recreational Warfare (RecWar) a tank game made in Delphi using DelphiX.

I updated the URL's on my first post.

Traveler, can you fix them in the list?

Wow, nice. Is there a project site or something? How close to finished is it? It looks like it's far into development.

Oh that's too bad, if they do get a site up for it and it's finished, I could do a game review in Pascal Gamer.

Hi all,
i currently set up this website:

http://obygames.googlepages.com

The game engine is nearly complete.
I currently have developed only the 1st level, which is probably a little too big, since the following levels will focus much more on a "casual" playing style.

Thanks for the chat,
Marcus Oblak.

Anyone having experience with publishers?
I am looking for one.

Thanks,

Impressive demo Marcus!
Have you did this all alone? It's a complete game!
To make a deal with a publisher you should write them a letter with link to the demo.

Thank you.
Yes it's all my work except the music, the weapon huds and a few characters.
In the game there is a total of 19 characters (aliens) and a few weapons and turrets not present in the demo.
It was a big programming and artistic work: about 2 years in my spare time.

About the publisher: after some research and kind tips i recived i ought to think the way to go is online distribution.

Thanks,
Marcus.

I figured that I'd reactivate this thread considering it's worth. :)

Alex, you should go into all the past issues of Pascal Gamer Magazine (http://www.pascalgamer.com/issues.php) and add all the games that I've reviewed too. There is about 14, plus some of the developers have made quite a few more still.

My few games made in Delphi :
Vermin Desert Range
A first complete game in Delphi made with slow Canvas functions and standard components.

Working now on a remake with ZenGL engine.

Winter Verminator
A short game like Duck Hunt made in a week for tiny competition in local gamedev forum. Another game that is waiting for a better remake and

I have written a bunch of games, all in Pascal. Most are old now, but I am still working on games and try to find the time to update these. Most are for classic MacOS, some also come in OSX versions.

http://www.lysator.liu.se/~ingemar/games/

Solitaire House, multi-game solitaire, quite successful.
Ingemar's Skiing Game, popular party game.
Bikaka, hexagonal Tetris.
Christmas jigsaw, long-running jigsaw game, updated every Christmas for over a decade with new pictures and shapes.
Mac?Ñggaschack, simple but good-looking game slightly related to tic-tac-toe

MacSokoban, Sokoban for the Mac
Bachman, variation on Pac-Man
Slime Invaders, variation on Space Invaders
Hexmines, hexagonal Mines game
Fia med knuff, a Ludo game
Bert, a Q-Bert variant

eFinans, original game written as PR for a bank. Originally written in Think Pascal (Mac) and FPC (PC), but sadly had to be ported to C because the FPC graphics library couldn't cut it at the time.
Smack-a-Skunk, whack-a-mole with a twist
Classic Daleks, the Daleks/robots game.
Retro Engine, a collection of oldies

Some of these games were shareware, some freeware. Most were written in Think Pascal, using Metrowerks Pascal for PPC ports. (Nowadays I use FPC and love it.)

I was asking to DuckDuckGo.com some questions about Delphi $directives and I've found a karaoke game written in Pascal. UltraStar Deluxe (http://ultrastardeluxe.xtremeweb-hosting.net/wiki/doku.php). Don't know if it's still under development.

I shall add my FreePascal game to this list (using my old engine based on SDL 1.2) here: http://www.freewarefiles.com/Bubble-Chain_program_78942.html
(The other games from me on that site are using the same engine but are coded in Lua).

Just to necro this thread and say that my game is alive even if, as usual, not fully playable yet: FAR Colony

Dev w/ Delphi 2009 + GLScene + GR32 + an old TMS set

So old but alive :)

I have tried your game about a year or so ago and ... wel I must admit that I didn't quite figured out how to play it. But from the bits I saw it seemed to have great potentiual.
Now after learning that it is made with Delphi I must say that I'm verry impressed. Not many good games are still being developed by Delphi. So you are kind of a inspiration for me becouse I'm also determined to be making gamed with delphi someday.

Well I gues I should give your game another try. There must be tons of new features implemented since the last time I have tried it. I just hope I'll be able to figure out how to play it this time.
