If you get Delphi 2009, JEDI-SDL will no longer compile due to a missing version directive in JEDI-SDL.inc. Here's an updated version that fixes the problem:

Thanks for the update, changes have been made locally, but I'm having some problems commiting to CVS. I'm guessing they changed that interface again.

Ok managed to get it checked in. Please download from there and retest if possible. I also checked in a small update to sdl.pas.

If all goes well I'll upload a Release Candidate 3 later this week. That will be the very last RC before v1.0 is finally finally offically released.

I'm using Delphi 2009 and SDL_WM_SetCaption doesn't work as it should. PChar is actually PWideChar in Delphi 2009. When I call SDL_WM_SetCaption('Test', 'Test'), my window's caption is set to 'T'... all other characters are discarded (I guess wide representation of char T contains null character after T ASCII character and that is why SDL_WM_SetCaption use only first letter).

I didn't test other functions that use PChar type, but they probably don't work either.

Using PAnsiChar instead of PChar would solve the problem.

The second parameter to the SDL_WM_SetCaption should be a pointer to an Icon structure, not text. Unfortunately I don't have D2009, so can't confirm or deny this issue or suggest a workaround.

As far as i know, second parametar is text that is displayed in linux and mac os taskbar, and first parameter is text that is used for window caption and taskpar in windows os.

The second parameter to the SDL_WM_SetCaption should be a pointer to an Icon structure, not text. Unfortunately I don't have D2009, so can't confirm or deny this issue or suggest a workaround.

Like Srki_82 writes, the second parameter is a text, not a pointer to any structure. See docs, http://sdl.beuc.net/sdl.wiki/SDL_WM_SetCaption. Just change all PChar to PAnsiChar (if you want to keep D2009 compat).

Sorry guys, my mistake. Does anyone know FreePascal support PAnsiChar?

Sure it does. I use modified version of sdl.pas form my engine and PAnsyChar compiles fine in Delphi 2007, 2009 and FreePascal 2.2.2, Lazarus 0.9.26 (Windows and Linux... not sure for other OS-es).

TAnsiChar, PAnsiChar are in FPC for all OSes, since at least 3 years + 6 months (looking at SVN repo, http://svn.freepascal.org/cgi-bin/viewvc.cgi/trunk/rtl/inc/systemh.inc?revision=1&view=markup). So it should be safe to use for *at least* all FPC >= 2.0.0.

You have to declare an AnsiString first, since now there is a native UNICODE support on Delphi 2009. Like in this example :

procedure Dummy;
var
name : AnsiString;
begin
name := 'Projet SDL';
SDL_WM_SetCaption(PAnsiChar(name), nil);
end;

Add this to jedi-sdl.inc to get it working with D2010:

{$IFDEF ver210}
{$DEFINE Delphi} {Delphi 2009}
{$DEFINE Delphi32}
{$DEFINE Delphi4UP}
{$DEFINE Delphi5UP}
{$DEFINE Delphi6UP}
{$DEFINE Delphi7UP}
{$DEFINE Delphi8UP}
{$DEFINE Delphi9UP}
{$DEFINE Delphi10UP}
{$DEFINE Delphi11UP}
{$DEFINE Delphi12UP}
{$DEFINE Delphi14UP}
{$WARN UNSAFE_TYPE OFF} {Disable warning for unsafe types in Delphi 7}
{$DEFINE Has_Int64}
{$DEFINE HAS_TYPES}
{$ENDIF ver210}

Seems like this new .inc is not included in the latest JEDI-SDL version. Or at least I didn't find it.

Now trying to copy the changes to my jedi-sdl.inc and prep it for D2010.

Also, I noticed that the source-code in the start-post is mangled. Probably caused by the forum migration. I've encountered the same issue in other threads and PM's aswell. Is there a tool to get the original code back? :)
