Hey everyone, I'm doing a search to see what new games are being made these days. Whats newly released and/or about to be released, started, etc...?

Do you have a game that you are working on now? Is it a 'secret project'? Are you thinking of writing a game soon?

I'm planning to make a Fantasy Card Game... with Rules much like magic and yu-gi-oh.
Isn't a easy task, whatever... :/

I have been working on a wargame for Matrix Games called Flashpoint Middle East for a few years now. The earlier Flashpoint Germany came out in 2005. Both are in Delphi and I really enjoy working in it.

I'm working on a number of projects; some old, and some new ;-)

I am in the middle of making my Nintendo game and watch "Mario Bros." port for the PC (and hopefully gp2x too). Dunno when this will be finished though.

I also have a sort of asteroids/missile command hybrid game in the works too...haven't started any code on this one yet.

cheers,
Paul

I'm not making a game, but I am making a whole bunch of music for games. If anyone out there _is_ making games and needs music, send me an email at jdempcy ( AT ) gmail ( DOT ) com.

I am writing a bunch of stuff in all different genres and trying to categorize it by what type of scene or setting it would be good for: action, mystery, romance, exploration and so on.

Right now I'm just looking to expand my portfolio so I would be willing to license existing material for free to the right games, or write new material at a nominal cost.

I don't have any video game music published online yet, but you can check out my existing catalog of jazz and electronic: www.revolutionvoid.com

Please contact me if you are looking for music for your games.

Thanks!

"Cube" was a very interesting movie - loved it. I was up in the Swiss Alps some winter ago when I saw it. Snowstorm, cheese fondue, movie... great memories. Can't wait to see what you come up with. I bet it'll be on the 'cutting edge'. lol

Oh, that looks so fun, and nostalgic! ;)

I have so many games that I would like to do, and some are being worked on. I have written a fairly capable sprite animation package on OpenGL, and partially implemented a playformer on it. I also have a lot of 3D code, but turning that into a full game is an infinite project. I am mostly turning out demos from it.

I'm working on two games at the moment. One I'm doing completely on my own with my own (crap) graphics. The other I've conscripted a friend with some artistic talent. The first is a 2d space rpg with gameplay similar to old GTA games. Except in space. Overall the game alows the tradition "Elite" career paths, Merchant, bountyhunter or pirate, but the nature of the game encourages the Pirate path, which in other games is often neglected and the hardest and least rewarding way to play.
Its 2d, but I'm using opengl for the graphics, so the background stars have a 3d-ish feel (they're textured quads like everything else in the game)

The second one is still in its concept stages, although the display engine is already done. Its a fantasy rpg with a darker (almost ravenloft-esque) setting. You play the role of an Undead prince, one of the powerful rulers of the House, a refuge for undead that has long had a truce with the nearby human (living) settlements. Obviously this truce is going to be disturbed, mostly through the efforts of the main characters "brother". A friend of mine who is a starting out novelist is writing the story and doing most of the design. Another friend is doing the graphics, and I'm the programmer, as well as the designer of such elements as the combat system and game mechanics.

I'm still working on my MMORPG.

Working title is Super Awesome Game of Awesome Uberness. I've been busy the last month or so, so not much has gotten done. Hopefully I'll be able to work on it a lot more in the comming months. Ideally, I'd like to have a playable demo out this year.

The 3D engine was recently switched from one that I wrote from scratch, to Ogre 3D, the Ogre build is still being fleshed out, so I do not have any good screenshots of it, but the orginal build looked pretty good.

There are nice games here.Really.

While working on Allegro.pas (a new alpha release soon :P) I'm working on a game too. It isn't a secret project but I didn't release it yet, mainly because I'm currently using copyrighted material for test and I must create new graphics for the final version.

The game's name is Enjambre (= swarm) and it's a reinvention of the latest game developed by OperaSoft (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Opera_Soft) (creators of "Dr. Livingstone, I Presume", "Goody", "The Abbey of Crime" and many others) named La Colmena (= The hive), which was a good idea but poorly executed (except graphics, which are the ones I'm using to test it). It's a board game from two to eight players. The players must answer trivia questions and do "actions" (can't find a good translation for Spanish "prueba") and games, much as party-games.

The original game was oriented to adult audience and I'm keeping that but never pr0ngraphic :-[. You can set the maximum level to 1, 2 or 3 to play with friends safely . Levels 6 and 7 are only for lovers though (remember: never pr0n).

By the way, once finished it's possible to edit all data files to do it more "conventional" and create a white clean party game just changing graphics and texts. ::)

Ah, long time since I've been here :) I'm still working like a madman on my engine (http://vrmlengine.sourceforge.net/).

I hope to make and finish a new game during vacation, working title "Human Programming". FPS, but without any shooting, mostly walking around / solving riddles + a little fighting with non-standard weapons (a broom, and a chair's leg are planned for now :) )). With only one (!) but hopefully very beautiful and large level.

Hi there, I am working for several years on a quite simple 2d side scrolling bomber game. It is just based upon Freepascal and SDL. No further 2d game development library involved since I use this game for learning purposes. Probably many of you would have done this within few days but I was forced to do many long breaks on this project. However I think a first release is available soon.

I'm busy with planning on a great idea I got the other day. Currently there is not much to show, but I'll blurt it all out once I have a more solid concept. Currently my idea is to make a 2D-isometric action game, with a gripping story of course.

Hi all,

I'm not working on a game at the moment, but I have some started and suspended projects. And of course, I develop all of them in Pascal.

MegaFillers (Suspended)
Developed in Borland Delphi, the most recent version is v1.3.2, and it allows multiplayer mode over the Internet. Most likely I'll continue it's development, when I feel like to. :)
More info: http://sourceforge.net/projects/megafillers

MG-IHYW (Suspended)
Unfortunately, I don't have any public release of this game. It is a text-adventure game with ASCII graphics in Hungarian language. It's developed in Turbo Pascal. I'm thinking of suspending the development eventually, since writing such a game requires a lot of time - actually, I need to write a smaller novel to finish this game. And I see that people are not really interested in text-adventure games like this, so I really doubt it's worth the time. I feel pity though, because I think I sacrificed a lot of time already, and figured out a cool and interesting storyline.
At least I have a screenshot of it. (Sorry, the server is not accessible in 24 hours a day.)
http://megafillers.no-ip.org/pics/mg-ihyw/mg-ihyw_000.png

Save Dick Assman! (Suspended Eventually)
It is intended to be a reaction to the critic videos of FreddyD. He criticised some bogus, but commercially-dealed games, like the famous "Big Rigs: Over the Road Racing". My game is intended to be pretty bad, but funny. I used some characters he criticised in his videos, from several games. Here is a trailer:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8EymcS8VbBg
I decided to stop the development, because I ran out of ideas for jokes, and I see not point in publicating a game that takes 2 minutes to play, and not even funny enough.

I have some other Pascal games too, but they are not even worth to mention.

Thanks for taking this question. :)

All the bests,
MegaBrutal

Wow, it's great to see such a huge response of people making games here at the site. :)

I've sort of taken a year off from keeping in touch with the community at large and all the contacts I had. So with all the changes that would take place in over a year, I've not seen much activity from you guys. I'm quite happy that people are still making games of all kinds. 8)

Keep showing off your stuff though guys, I'm hoping to get game reviews going each issue of the new Pascal Gamer magazine!

I've been working on a few projects of my own. A few have not seen the light of day, but a few others know about them.

Off the top of my head;

- Garland's Quest -- Search for it here on PGD...

- Treasure Hunters: The Dark Labyrinth -- A game based off of an old board game by Ravenburger called 'The Amazing Labyrinth'. Only with an Indiana Jones/Relic Hunter theme to it.

- Invaded -- A game partially modeled after the economics and strategy portion of 'UFO: Enemy Unknown' and the 4x genre of games where you learn your tech tree and dominate the world. The idea being that you build a resistance force against the alien presence that has taken over the earth to try to take it back.

- A concept for a 2D platform MMO, I'm currently calling 'The Eternal Night' -- It's going to be my take on a retro-style Castlevania game, but MMO. Or... just multi-player. :) Not promising anything, but I have some neat ideas brewing.

I am making an another Quake III clone(yeah, I know there are gazillions of these) called fpcQuake. This one is done entirely from scratch with FPC, with my own engine and components, and no source code used from Quake(partly because it's C, and partly cause it's not readable and partly cause I don't wanna).

While I've started the project a year ago, I haven't done much programming until the last half a year. The game is far from functional yet. Networking gameplay is not implemented, there is almost no user interface(aside from the engine console, which is not visible on the screenshot). It still does not support a lot of things Quake III does, like lighting(though it supports lightmaps), water and other volumes(pain zones, etc). The player models do not use shaders(which is a problem for models with any graphics effects), though this is the next on my list of priorities, just after fixing about 1000 bugs :) The collision detection, while highly improved is not yet quite as good as the one in Quake, and there are bugs with motion(motion acceleration is not implemented). The physics could be better. The graphics could use a bit of optimization to squeeze the most out of older machines(such as a Pentium Celeron 300, which is one of my test machines). Anyways, a lot of work needs to be done, and I'm expecting to make a playable version by the end of the year.

On the screenshot you can see a level with AI players(bots). The bots are actually artificially unintelligent, because they just spawn and do nothing. This was required for debugging purposes and I don't believe I'll implement a decent bot AI in the following year or two.

I'd release all the stuff, but I haven't really checked the licenses for the maps and models I use. When, and if ever, I do release the game I'll find license compatible models and maps. Currently I use GPL v3 for source code.

I didn't even know I was registered here, but since I got this notice in the mail, I thought I ought to show what I'm working on...

It's a 2D fighter, think Street Fighter etc.
Programming, graphics and design is all me.
Done with Delphi 7, using DelphiX components.
I also have a non-user friendly tool to set hitboxes/animations/damage/properties of animations and all that.
I'm keeping it semi-secret though since I seldom finish games all the way, but I've got a good feeling about this one... I havn't gotten this far in a while. When I have all gameplay elements ready and 2-4 complete characters (2 so far), I will release an alpha version for balance testing at the Shoryuken forums.

Enjoy the first public screenshots! ;)

Could I try asking a slightly different question?

Who has made a game in Pascal? Or, to be more specific, a game that gamers have heard of. The last major game I'm aware of that was written in Delphi was Age of Wonders, and that was 10 years ago. Does anyone know of a more recent example?

WILL
07-05-2009, 03:17 AM
There are a few that have made a fair bit of impact in the indie/casual gamer scene... I mean does having a review from an indie game review site count as something that gamers have heard of?

In that case there is:

- CrashBlock (Winner of 2007 PGD Annual and a contender at the 2008 IGF)
- TombClimber (made some sales, probably Magic Storms strongest selling so far interviewed at Bytten)
- Wicked Defense (has wowed many and have it's own review I'm sure somewhere... don't know how it sold though...)
- Azlant Dreams (another one from the creators of Wicked Defense it was relesed late 2008/early 2009)
- Abra Academy 1 & 2 both (they are selling quite well at BigFish and uses the Phoenix SDK)
- Another game like Abra Academy, made by the same people, but I forget it's title... also at BigFish...

That it off the top of my head. You could count Projekt W, but it's unfinished. It does wow the hell out of most people that look at screenshots, etc.. lol

Personally I think that some of PGD's best and brightest should start making some games. You know who you people are.

WILL

...and wow some of the game screenies keep getting more and more impressive as they come. :)

You know all you guys just posting these and telling people that you are making a game really does help to show what the Pascal community is really like and that it's a VERY active community which produces games, many which are very enjoyable to play.

I have to say that it's really great to see many people creating games. ;)

I'm not making a game at the moment, but I'm working on a UV-mapping plugin for DeleD, which will (hopefully) help others to create nice looking game-content. I have some game ideas though and once I finished my plugin, I'll pick a library and start one a game again.

I'm also hoping that there will be a compo this year. That'll definitely encourage me (and quite a few others) to start a fresh new project. :)

Rest assured, that I'm doing my best to make sure there is a competition this year ;D

At the moment, I'm working hard on the competition site (I'm writing a site specifically to handle programming competitions for us - Not just the annual, but one or two peeps have expressed interest in small weekend style competitions) and sourcing prizes and writing the terms and conditions and deciding on the competition structure and...........

Anyhow, you get the point :) I have to agree though, it is great to see so many active projects. I'm still trying to get around to rewriting our PGD Annual 2006 entry... the original used unDelphiX was too slow and used scripting which made it run like a dog... I have a new engine design I'm working on which should improve things... openGL for a start that manages to maintain it's framerate where unDelphiX fell short, and we're in the process of working on season 3 of our browser game and a next generation product derived from the browser game storyline.

It's just that work (or more accurately, finding work) and this dammed competition ;) are getting in the way :D

Hi there.

I'm working with several titles, both small and larger projects. I can reveal some of the details for the largest proejct. It's going to utilize high-end OpenGL graphics (3.1), it's going to involve a vehicle, playing over lan, cross platform, compiled in Free Pascal. It's not playable at the moment, I'm rewriting the terrain engine and optimizing it's performance and look. ETA on this project is up to several years, but it's going to be finished some time, and trust me, this forum will be the first to know any news. That's all I'm going to reveal for now. I'm very busy doing my master at the university. Perhaps I'll add some screenshots during the summer, if it's getting more playable.

See you guys.

SDL would be the easiest to start off with. Comes with a lot out of the box and easy to build upon later. I use both SDL and OpenGL for fast graphics and OpenAL for nice sound.
