Hey everyone!

Just wanted you all to get the heads up on the next version of Delphi coming out. It's pretty neat if you like the "Cloud" concept that is going around lately. Basically it's Delphi 2011 featuring software reversion built right in, along with new diagram and code charting abilities. They are continuing on with the excellent Delphi 2010, possibly the best Delphi since Delphi 7, onto what will be a new naming convention, the "EX" will be on all their next set of RAD tools along with Delphi.

What? And where's the long-awaited support for the Linux platform?

It's in development along with the Mac OS X version. I believe they are having issues trying to maintain all the different methods for memory management across the 3 different OSes. Since each one does things differently, from what I've read it's not such an easy task.

I guess you could help out if you wanted. Have a read at Eli Boling's blog if you want more information about Linux and Mac OS X support. http://blogs.embarcadero.com/eboling/

Want to read more about it there is a post about Allen Bauer's comments on it here. http://rob.crabapples.net/2009/05/delphi-on-mac-os-x.htm

Been using the XE for a couple of weeks now and in my opinion it's the best Delphi since 7. :)

Unfortunately there's some small bugs and some features are a bit meh, but overall it's pretty solid and seems to be more stable than the previous versions.

You know, just by looking at the videos I wasn't really impressed. I mean that first video they have on there. It's nearly 15 minutes long and they spent half of that rambling about built-in subversion support. Don't tell me thats one of their main selling points?
The second video looked better but, in general, those videos don't really convince me to spend 900 euros to buy Delphi XE.

Will it ever get osx and linux support? I have lost hopes for that to happen. (not to mention ios support for iphone/ipad development)

It sounds as if you haven't read anything about the efforts to get Delphi on Mac OS X and Linux. In fact you do realize that this is not Borland or even the old Code Gear companies anymore? I have a feeling that if you do some reading of current news regarding Delphi, you'll probably find things have changed. A lot in fact, take a look at Delphi 2010 for example, that's the start of it all. Now, Delphi XE and soon Delphi for Mac/Linux.
