Good news for everyone who is waiting for SDL 1.3 to be released. Sam Latinga, the maintainer of the project has been working hard during the last couple of weeks to add or improve the new features. The graphics rendering portion of SDL has had major updates and also the timer API has been improved. No release date has been announced yet, but keep an eye out for the new versions to be released soon.

I would appreciate it if he could finish it within say 3 months. A few weeks is a bit short considering the fact that SDL 1.3 development started a few years ago. The roadmap still has plenty of items that need to be fixed/added.

It'll be interesting to see how 1.3 works out. I'm a big fan of the SDL library since I started using it. So far it's the most compatible and versatile of all the cross-platform libraries. Falls right in line with the write once and compile everywhere theme that many love.

wish they would address performace a bit though, I've been benchmarking it against my scraps of code and beat it by a minimum 75% speed every time...
