  • PGD Challenge Showcase Site!

I am very happy to finally be able to show off all past entries for the PGD Challenge Mini Competitions. Here is the showcase site that you have all been waiting for since the PGD Challenge started. I had always wanted to run these competition events for the community so that it would be left standing as a monument to all that the community had created over the years.

Not only does this showcase prove that the community is doing great things, but also that we are an alive and versatile bunch of developers who love making games.

The PGD Challenge was started last year as a replacement to the PGD Annual competitions, which lets face it, we're not really a yearly event anymore. It was a mind-shift from the over-bloated format of a huge event which not everyone in the community had time for. We did have one or two really good years for the event, but as time went on it became harder to organize and get people to take part from all over the globe for a single time of the year.

The better way to go about it was instead to have a whole bunch of mini competitions where anyone at any time could contribute to. As has been proven from these last two competitions this obviously is the better option to keep the competitive spirit alive and keep the community active through a series of smaller challenges.

    PGD Challenge Event Posters

The PGD Challenge will continue on over the years as we make time when we can to have them. We hope that more and more people will join us and have fun taking on the challenge and show us what you can do and make a game.

      Awesome! Well done!
May I notice that could be practical to each download entry to have an indicator for the operating system the game runs.

I thought about having an indication of what ports they are for. Some little icon. So I'll probably update the site with those.

Also for those of you who do not have a screenshot listing with your entry, you can post here, PM me or email me a screenshot to use as a thumbnail of your game entry. I went with whatever I could find, but I preferred something that actually showed the current state of actual game in play rather than a stats screen or title screen.

...but don't forget the PGD Annual showcase site too. Which has a lot of cool older entries from the "Annual" competitions of the past. Some of the Challenge competitors also competed in the Annual as well.

Hmm... Looks like a handful of the links on the front page of the pgd annual site are 404s for those posted in 09... Might have something to do with the new vBulletin we got since then?

I just threw up some OS icons so people know what ports were included.

Let me know if I got any wrong for the Simple Controller competition. I'm sure that they were all Windows except for the one, which was Mac.

I noticed that the PGDAnnual site only has links for the first 2 competitions, not the arcadia or multiplexity
