Hi Everyone... I've been coding a bit in O. Pas. in my last job... I came from a M$ world (u know, .NET, visual studio languages, etc), and at first I hated this but after months fighting with delphi 5, I managed to survive a bit... and suddenly it came my desire to retake lesson of this language... lol I hope to find a good community here.

I recomend you to go and use either sone newer version of Delphi of FPC/Lazarus (free) instead of Delphi 5. Main reasons fot this is the fact that theese development IDE's contains quite some new features which make programing much easier (Advanced Code Insight, code autocompletion, on the fly syntax checking, etc). They also base on updated units which means that programs you'll made will work on newer operating systems without any problems and with all fetures which I can't guarantee for programs made with Delphi 5.

Also I'm afraid that currently you can't post on the rest of the forum. The rason for this is the fact that we are having some isues with the automatic promotion system. I have already contacted site admins about the problem as you are not hte only one. So I belive the problem will be fixed as soon as posible.

Hello,
I am just beginning my journey into programming and a friend invited me to use Pascal.
I am so lost I cannot even find how to start a blog.
I would like to document my adventure and miss steps.
Could some one take pity and tell me where to go to start my blog?

Hi Bill and welcome to PGD

The reason you couldn't find where to start a blog is because as a new user you're access to the site is severely limited until you are unmoderated by one of the moderators or an admin. I've approved your opening post so if all goes well, the system should promote you in about 15 minutes time... when that occurs you should find you will be able to start your post. I will check back in the morning (I'm in the UK and am about to go to bed) and make sure the promotions have worked (I've been waiting for a real new member to test it since I made changes to the system a few days ago).

To access the blogs, click the 'Blogs' button at the top of the page and once you're promoted, you should have a 'Create Post' option which will allow you to post.

Hope this helps, I'll check back in the morning and fix your user if you aren't automatically promoted.
