Virtual Pascal Dies

Since the rise of Windows back in 1995 and the slow death of Borland's Turbo Pascal compiler there have been many spin-off continuing-effort Pascal compilers since. Amoung them, Virtual Pascal was one of these such compilers.

The Virtual Pascal project had lasted quite some time as these projects go. 10 years to be exact. However, it's inability to keep up with current technologies and trends kept it from being more widely used and supported. It's 'death' is reportedly due to lack of interest.

"I don't know if anyone has noticed, but I am sad to report that Virtual Pascal has died a quiet death. It was born in 1995, and died in 2005 at the ripe old age (for software) of 10 years.

What this means to you is that there is unlikely to be more releases of VP, and that there certainly will be no releases with shiny new features in them."

A big thanks to the entire Virtual Pascal team and their contributors for their help in the on-going effort to keep Pascal alive!

    Virtual Pascal Dies

Sad to see any language die a quiet death, but a pascal based language is worse.
