Indeed i use it for all my 3d stuff..
The interface is different from all other programs and is optimized for heavy usage.. Most of the time you use both the keyboard and the mouse togheder. Lots of functionalities are practically avaiable only by hotkey (they are buried down in the menus).
So if you use it a lot you can remember all keys and so you can go very fast.
A great features is the scriptable system. You can write your own exporters with really little work. It uses Python for that, and even if i hate it deeply, i must say that it came handy in this situation. (i'd have preferd a nice Pascal or Java plugin system ). You can also write your own tools to perform operations on models, and they can integrate in the UI.

In the end i'm quite happy with it. I once used 3D studio Max and it was very nice and easy to use, but it's harder to make plugins and exporters.
Also, since i switched to open source i throw it away
