    Pngin (basic engine)

In the winter I made a basic engine for a 2D 'pengo' clone.
It's not finished, only sliding an crushing will work, the enemies are not so smart.
It's downloadable on my site: WAIT 20 seconds.
it's the zip file. please let me know any problems. (it will give a texture error, just press ok).

    Works good for me
It has a few noticable flaws, besides those already mentioned in your post, like the walls disappearing when scrolling, objects floating through eachother, animation being in slowmotion. But I guess with a pre alpha release those things are to be expected.

    Keep it up!

Wel.. of course the horizontal walls are not visible when that part of the field is not visible.. that was part of the plan.
Yes, some enemies can still go through the 'blocks' .. that is worked on. (the a.i. is still in infant stage)..
but this release is mainly to test if the 'hero' can slide, and crush all blocks and all enemies...
all enemies should be crushed without errors.

.. but you did get 30-33 fps i presume?

I should've explained that point a bit more. What I noticed in your game is that the blocks disappear from the playarea just before they scroll off the screen.

Will check again the fps when I get home from work

I just checked the fps and it was as you said, around 32.

    Hi! update.

As I've been *intensively* developing a 2D engine for a next 2D project, this project was on hold for some time. I was not satisfied with the artwork (don't bother to click on the links in the first posts, they're all Dead! ..) So I decided to create new artwork.

There is now a chance that this project might come to fruitation. Of course, the game idea is very simple, do not expect complex game Play. But it should be fun anyway and I have implemented some really nice sound effects and I might throw in a few cool music tracks to keep it going.

About licensing: planning is there will be a 'Free' version (lite) and a 'Pro' version (paid, but not expensive).

Screenshots and more info (pnigin): http://www.marmin.hjhosting.nl/blog.html
(if the page doesn't show up, try a few times 'refresh', it will show up).

I'll let you know if the project comes in to a beta stage, so it can be tested.
    Cheers,

    marcel.

    Hi,
the project is progressing The game logic and AI was very difficult to program, so it took a while and still it is not finished.

The game is developed with Free Pascal and using Lazarus as an IDE. Interaction with Delphi 5 on win32 is excellent, so this is a good thing for Free Pascal that sucfh a complicated engine is working.

I have placed a short demo of the game (b?®ta) on Youtube:

Looks good and it seems that it gets much of the charme of the original

I hope I can finish the project, I don't have much time, but there are tons of additions, such as four difficulty levels and you can align up to 9 blocks and make cool patterns . The aim is to make it a good tribute to the original with original graphics and sound.

Redone a lot; a small vid can be seen here. I couldn't get a higher frame rate with camstudio capture.
