Forget about Amapi and the other Eovia Products (besides of Hexagon) they are totally buggy and cannot export one single format without errors!

So if you want to prerender stuff, make a bitmap of the 3D mesh, this is okay, but if you want to use the mesh for your games forget about it!

TrueSpace is much better in that case.

you can make a whole lot of good stuff in AMapi 6.1 in seconds or minutes, without crashing. But granted, better game-oriented export formats would be good.

Carrra Studio 2 came free on some 3D World magazine cover recently. We liquidated the remaining inventory of CS3, there's not much left. C4 is very decent. But yes again, you may want something like Milkshape 3D for converting to your game formats.

Even GameSpace uses that afaik.

That all said, they're all just tools. ANd they have very similar features. GameSpace/TrueSpace may be more focused on stuff needed for gamers.

Compare some stuff at www.thebest3d.com/amapi and www.thebest3d.com/caligari and www.thebest3d.com/carrara to get some more ideas. In the end I highly recommend you try several tools to find your best. Each user has differences of opinions on various interfaces, and it also varies with the PC you try it on.
