I tinkered with 3D just enough to make me realise that I don't have what it takes to be a good modeller. I can make models - don't get me wrong, but when you look at what some people can do, it's humbling.

But then, most modellers can't code so HAH!

Seriously though, if you have to make models, do it as placement art. Otherwise, you get so completely blown away by the sheer effort required. I know I did... I must have made like 20 models for the 3D version of Guns.. only to find that I needed so many more plus code... plus level design... it adds up.

Best bet is commisssion a good 3D artist to do your artwork, you may even find it spurs you on to do an even better job because they've done such a good job.

for a 32x32 sprite, it's probably overkill... have you considered pencil & ink?
