A big thanks for the nice replies, suggestions and pm's. Yet another sign of the excellent spirit that surrounds this community :!:

I must admit that, yesterday, I really was about to throw in the towel. The mere thought of some random, unknown person getting his hands on the stick, accessing (personal) information that really wasn't meant for his/her eyes, kept on going through my mind. Last night I went through every minute of the time, between the point I know I had last seen it, untill the point I realize I had lost it.

To make the story short, after turning my room upside down, visiting a friends place to see if I left it there, and checking the road from his place to mine (imagine me with a flashlight searching the road) I was fortunate enough to get it back!

Losing data because of a crash is one thing. Knowing that someone might be going through your info is even worse. I've certainly learned a lesson. Memory sticks, come cheap these days. With several gigs free space available, its easy to stuff it full. Having a backup is only a small releave, because what if you have sensitive information on it?

Anyway, I'm back in now. Shame is a small price to pay if it helps any of you with this story. (At least I reminded you to make a backup Dirk )

If anything, it's sure makes a good beginning for the Post mortem.

    Let the compo continue...

Glad you're back in the running. It would have sucked to have to drop out like that.

Hey, nice news Alex! Welcome back at the show

If you have sensitive data on your stick, you should consider encrypting it ...
But on the other hand... who cares about your porn gallery as long as your own face is not visible in it? *lol*

Seriously, I am glad that all went well for you....

And I made my backup today!! Yeah!

Well, you guys might want to check Cobian Backup, freeware, that will let you schedule backups locally and remote via FTP. It's pretty powerful and might be just what you all need.
