I hope this is a good thing for Delphi. I would love to see kylix/delphi developed so that it also worked with MacOS - that would be great.

The company in question, Embarcadero, claim to sell
Our cross-platform tools support the market leading databases including Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, DB2, Sybase, and MySQL
So maybe they are looking for to make Delphi truly cross-platform and we can expect to see it on Mac OS X and a few other exotic platforms.

It would be great if Delphi would be able to make cross-platform applications. However to be realistic CodeGear has limited resources and it is unlikely to change much for the comming years even with Embarcadero backing it.

What CodeGear could do is to extend Delphi windows to cross-compile to Linux and make remote debugging on Linux and create a limited VCL intended for server side application.

Not terrible exciting for games development, but lots of companies have desktop with Windows and Linux servers. So with a limited investment there could be a good payback.
