TAnsiChar, PAnsiChar are in FPC for all OSes, since at least 3 years + 6 months (looking at SVN repo, http://svn.freepascal.org/cgi-bin/vi...=1&view=markup). So it should be safe to use for *at least* all FPC >= 2.0.0.
