    It has come to my attention that the following website has not come to the attention of everyone that would enjoy it :

    The above being a 64kb executable, full singing, speech synthesis as well as classic instrument synths along with some stunning, procedurally generated, hardware accelerated 3D.

    Yes 64kb. The demo scene has always had an affinity for that particular number

    If that hasn't amazed you, check out this procedurally generated, hardware accelerated 3D terrain engine with some lovely shader effects :

    I ask that you forgive the tardy developer for their ludicrously large 4kb file size, I have sent them a stern e-mail regarding the cost of hard-drives today so hopefully they'll bare this in mind the next time they sit at a keyboard.

    Ahh well, I should of searched I've always been impressed by the scene, I had the "second reality" demo (future crew - Assembly 1993) when I was a kid and must of watched it a hundred times if not more so, at the time it was simply jaw dropping and I'm no less amazed with what comes out now, "agenda circling forth" (demo - fairlight+cncd - Breakpoint 2010) and "rupture" (acd - The Gathering 2009) are my current favourites. They should be running on systems in the tate modern if you ask me

    I've recently started taking note of C64 demos more. Some of those are downright mindboggling

    We are new - Fairlight(live)
    Mekanix - Booze Design & Instinct(live)

    I really want to get into the demoscene, but my imagination is the largest hindrance here. I guess I should start out just stealing ideas from classic demos..

    Yeah, pouet and scene.org are good places for demoscenes. Of course, I imagine the majority aren't Pascal (or games), but man people are talented.

    I remember the demoscene fondly. It's where I learned of my love of computer graphics. Favorite all time demo was Future Crew's Fishtro.

    Cool! a fishtro...I haven't heard of that before, but I do love Future Crew's work

    It is a shame that it would be impossible to do similar on the c64 due to lack of hardware and features

    The demos make me want to write some support for self generated textures to my graphics lib... Can reduce the zip sizes at least. Fonts are already generated but something like simple particles, stars, suns and planet surfaces may be generated. If the routine is fast enough it might even exceed image loading, because you can write the pixels straight into loadable data memory and skip all PNG, JPG loadings.
