well yes but that's how things go. Carrara 3 was also $299 just 3 years ago and then C4 came and now C5, at $249, while CS3 sold out at $28 and C4 is around $79Dito for TrueSpace 5, which you can find for around $90.

anytime a new version rolls out, you can expect either the price of the new one to go up, or to stay about the same and the old version to be officially discontinued or to go mute. They still have inventory of the older version though, so they go for next to nothing. Great opportunities for newbies to try stuff which used to cost a fortune a few years prior.

For Example, Amapi 6.1 is free.

Then you also find some things in magazine cover CDs.

If you're on a very tight budget this *is* good news.

Another example: Gmax was getting popular, too popular at some point, so they discontinued it. But you can still find a full latest build version on the MS FLightsim 2004 CDs (A century of Flight, CD #1).
